The Crew.

Hello.

We are Allen and Brooke. In 2018, we decided to sell everything we couldn’t live without, stock the boat with what was left and cruise off on the adventure of a lifetime.

For those of you asking (and I know you are) Why Me, Lord? It’s Allen’s favorite Kris Kristofferson song. In good and sometimes not so good situations, he’s known to shake his head and say, “Why me, Lord?”

A little about me…I’m a bit clumsy. And I break most things. Allen often says, “your could tear up a steel ball in a sandbox.” He’s not wrong. Another quote that has withstood the test of time, “Remove an O and you have BROKE”. My favorite, however, is “Brooke Proof”. If I can’t break it, it gets the official seal of approval. It’s a good thing I have a good sense of humor.

Allen is mostly retired and I will be working full-time from the boat. We are so excited to be able to live and travel by boat. There is no other place we’d rather be than on the water.

OH! We also talked my parents into selling their house, buying a trawler and joining us on the The Loop. Yeeaaa, we’re all CRAZY!

Please allow me to introduce my parents…Louis and Betty. They will be our buddy boat throughout The Loop and I hope many side trips.

A little about them…

They are life long sailors. We talked them into buying a trawler. Imagine the horror; two sailors on a trawler. Fortunately, they seem to be adjusting just fine.

I should probably mention, mom is also super clumsy AND accident-prone. It’s an inherited trait, I’m sure. I probably shouldn’t tell this story but I’m going to anyway. My parents bought their boat on May 16, 2018. They took possession around 3 p.m. (at least that’s roughly when I received the text). They were so excited!

The next day, on my home from work, I began receiving text messages from my dad. I found it odd because he doesn’t like texting. I didn’t check them because I was in rush hour traffic and didn’t want to get into a wreck. Allen called me and asked if I’d seen my Dad’s messages. Alarm bells went off!!

I checked my phone to learn Mom was in the ER. OMGERD!!! It’s not been 24 hours since taking possession of the boat.

Dad was working in the engine room…familiarizing himself with the boat. She was watching TV and fully aware the hatch was open. But in her accident-prone nature, she fell into the 6 ft engine room backwards, hitting her head on the steel rungs of the ladder on her way down. She ended up with 4 staples in the back of her head. She’s lucky to be alive and still walking. The angels were definitely looking out for her. We are all so very grateful.

Needless to say, I am the luckiest person alive, I get to to spend the next few years traveling this magnificent world with the people I love the most.

We hope you will join us on our many adventures as we explore the world from m/v Why Me, Lord?
