Our view from Sagebrush #119. Beautiful sunsets. Cold, strong winds. Lots of privacy.
This little guy greeted us upon arrival at Palo Duro. He was super friendly…and probably looking for food. It was neat to see one up close. Beep! Beep!
The Lighthouse rock formation is one of the more challenging hikes we’ve tackled. Over seven miles round trip. The last .1 mile was almost straight up the mountain with an ascension of over 500 ft. It took us roughly 6 hours including lunch (charcuterie board and wine). I thought it would be scarier going back down the mountain, fortunately, I was wrong. The views from the top were amazing. Beautiful. Breathtaking. More pics below.
Just before dusk, on our return trip from the iconic Lighthouse rock formation, a majestic wolf or coyote (not sure which) appeared and hiked part of the trail with us. As we approached the end of the trail, the pack was howling. Amazing!
